Production-floor quality discipline, applied to things made by hand.
Pixels and Chisels, LLC is a small workshop in Norman, Oklahoma, where we design and make our own line of 3D printed products, fiber laser engraved items and handcrafted woodwork.
It is run by David E. Rodgers, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and ASQ-certified quality engineer with a career in manufacturing quality, production and training. The workshop is where that background meets craft. The habits that keep a production line honest (measure it, test it, fix problems at the root) now go into every keychain, engraved ammo can and planter that leaves the shop.
The name says it all. Pixels are the digital side: designing, modeling and printing. Chisels are the hands-on side: woodworking and finishing. Good work needs both.

A quality mindset, borrowed from the factory floor.
Quality is designed in from the start. We would rather fix a design than sort through defects afterward.
We care how a product holds up in daily life, not just how it looks in a photo.
We describe materials and methods plainly (PLA, PETG and ASA for printed parts, permanent fiber laser engraving) so you know exactly what you are buying.
Small, steady improvements. Every design, print profile and finish gets a little better with each batch.
Three crafts, one workshop, all designed and produced in-house.
Keychains, aquarium decorations, craft signs and home decor, printed in durable materials including PLA, PETG and ASA.
Crisp, permanent detail on ammo cans, tumblers, slate tile and metal signs.
Planters, stands, shelving and decorative pieces built in-house from quality materials.
Problem-solving habits from quality engineering, packaged for makers.
Our free web tools grew out of the same mindset: Print Doctor walks you from a failed 3D print to its root cause, the 3D Print Cost Calculator shows what a print really costs, and ToolMatch helps woodworkers pick the right blade, bit or fastener.
David also writes about Lean, Six Sigma and quality systems at SixSigmaKaizen.com, a library of guides, calculators and templates for working professionals.
